A House For All Seasons And Reasons

Spring is Here
March 25, 2004

Spring is come again to my home. And how do I know this? Well, it is not just because I had to mow for most of the day last Saturday, but because the hummingbirds have come back. I saw this one about noon and put the feeders out as soon as I could.

I have been spending my mornings, lunch brakes, and evenings painting the rooms in the house as I waited for the kitchen cabinets.
About 3 weeks ago with the pieces of the puzzel showed up. James Chambers is the creator and his Dad helped him put the pieces together.

While I was looking through all the left over metal from the construction of the house and roofing, I asked Gary Baize, my builder, if we had enough left over 'stuff' to build a drive through carport. YEA!!! WE DID. With the help of Kenny Blanchard and David Polk, they were able to construct a 24' by 20' drive through cover on the South side of the house. 3mancrew.jpg

The week before the carport was completed, the gutter crew showed up to start work on the installation of the gutters. Since no one from the company had called to check on the status of the carport, they went ahead and installed the gutters on the North, West, and East side of the house. Since they have not been paid for the work, I am sure they will be back soon to finish, now that the carport is complete.

I am not going to show you the kitchen once the pizzle pieces where put together. At least not until I get the cabinets finished. You see I am the one that will be putting the finishing touch on them. Below is an example of what I am trying to do. It is a whitewash using the same paint that I put on the walls (linen white). The cabinets are red oak and the doors in the pictures have not been whitewashed. To say this takes time is an understatement! It also takes lots of paper towels. So far so good.

For those of you interested, I have set the move in date for the house for the week of April 22, 2004. I figured Earth Day and my Birthday would be a good target. My son is coming from LA to help and anyone else interesting in helping is welcome on any day of the week - including weekend.
