I have been smitten by freecycle. It's a network of localized e-mail lists where people give away things that they would otherwise have to throw away. Computer equipment, appliances, building materials, auto parts, tools - all find new homes on freecycle.
I made these buttons for freecyclers to put on their websites to link back to freecycle. The first ones I made were location specific - but then I thought that the web is so vast - so I made some that could just link to the master freecycle site, freecycle.org.
They are here for the taking, I just ask that people download them to their own servers and not link from mine. I'd be happy to add buttons made by other people or requests for custom sizes/colors.

Richmond Freecycle!!
I mod brevard county freecycle in florida, and wondered if you could make us a button? That would be excellent if so.
I will grab one for the mothership to use on my group site. Hope I have enough room. We are limited to 2000 letters on our yahoo groups.
On a website I can do it however I wish so with your permission and a graphics by or how you want it worded. I am building a site for my county group so we can branch off to smaller community sites. I am also on the Florida Moderators Squad and bet they would all love a button.

Brevard County Florida Freecycle
Hi i wanted to ask you if you might be able to do a button for Pay It Forward. One favor at a time.
Just see what you can come up with if you will. Catherine Hyde the author wanted me to make her one for her site so she can use it to give out to people. They don't have one. She emails me all the time, we met after I emailed her and she published my letter on her site this past month.

While I like freecycle, I also like another service at www.abcfree.com. Both services are all about keeping useful goods out of our landfills, so the earth is the big winner.
I like ABCFree because it allows you to make a "wish list" and you just get contacted when something that you are looking for
comes up in your area. Also, ABC gives a portion of its revenue to schools so kids are also big winners.
