Today my aunt sent a link to an amazing collection of old pictures of our family from Hungary.
The cutie on the left is my father and he looks so much like my brother it is amazing. He also looks a lot like Aidan. The one on the right is my Uncle Lajos and he looks just like my cousin Thyra in this picture. I never saw the resemblance before. The other interesting thing is that I never thought that my father and his brother looked alike, but if you scan across the faces in this photo, its pretty easy to see that they are brothers. Dad's hair looks blonde! Crazy. Even as a baby he was doing alright with the ladies. Looks like he was gassy even back then.
Genes are powerful!! Remember how I commented that Aidan holds his hands out like Tyson (like your Dad?) Well, I found a picture that shows this perfectly!. I'll send. I cannot get this web site to load on my computer so I can see all of the pictures. Christy,....help! K

She is my grandfather's sister, Klari, which was also my grandmother's name. From what I can tell, there are only a handful of Hungarian names that get used over and over. My grandmother and her siblings were Klara & Laci. My grandfather and his siblings were Lajos, Klari & Laci. There was a third child named Guyla who died of the measels and no one ever used THAT name again. I never thought that I looked like my grandfather - but I have never seen his siblings before and I can see the resemblance.
Wow! Your family's pictures bring back so many memories for me... My maternal grandma is also Hungarian and her pics are the same era, same places. Wow...
Well, there are lots of names in Hungary, just both sides of our family kept repeating the same ones... Tradition? Fate? I mean, how could Nagypapa have planned to marry someone whose family had the same names?... so, Christy and Tyson, even now there are second cousins in Hungary who share some of your characteristics; Micu's daughter Andrea, aged 27, Klara Heder Kovacshazy''s granddaughter, looks very much like her grandmother, the young woman in the above mentioned photo.
Christy has a twin walking around somewhere! Cool!
