I drove to Hartford yesterday to pick up my mom, who is spending the weekend with us. I took a local route, US Hwy 44, through Connecticut. I had no idea what I was getting into, how fast I would be able to drive, how much traffic there would be, etc. As soon as I got into CT, the speed limit dropped and I found myself behind a law abiding driver. Most of the way was rich, white, Connecticut - towns lined with old mansions, horse farms and exclusive private schools. At a town called Winsted, it started to become suburban and I kept mistaking the word "Winsted" for "Twisted". I saw "Twisted Automotive", "Twisted Flowers and Gifts", "Twisted Insurance" etc. I don't know why my mind kept playing that trick on me over and over again, but I kept feeling like Connecticut was one creepy place. And then I saw it, I almost had an accident, but I think it explains everything:

We used to fly into Hartford to visit Jeff's family in Pittsfield--now we fly into Albany. Its closer and cheaper.The first time we visited, we stopped at Satan's Kingdom because, come on, a girl from Texas has to see where Satan lives, right? Because its hotter than hell down here. Ar ar ar! Oh, I'm full of 'em today.

If you won't to feel better about CT just go to Bridgeport or Norwalk. It is not all picture perfect. Why it is even Jewish, home of Senator Joe Lieberman! And right now a Kennedy cousin is being tried for murder. What will the Chamber of Commerce do?
Oh man. I live in CT (Bridgeport born & raised). I've actually BEEN to Satan's Kingdom. It's about an hour north of me.ok, for those of you who are REALLY wondering, it's a river with tubing and stuff, it's actually quite fun if you get a chance to go there.Oh, and Kay, I'd take my city over ritzy CT and the gold coast (Greenwich - where Skakel, the Kennedy cousin is, New Canaan, etc) anyday. They've got no personality.
I was born in Winsted. But I'm a little twisted, so maybe you got it right. I drive Rte. 44 to Hartford every week. But I HATE the part between Canaan and Winsted, so I take 23 and 8 from Barrington to Winsted. It might be longer. I don't care.
