The Morning After

09-03-02

The party went really well - no rain at all and the food went smoothly. The thing is though, about half of the people that we expected actually came. Many of my friends have really messy lives - and some of the other people are just not close friends - and the all had good reasons for not coming, I am sure. It just makes me feel really lonely - like when I got married and none of my friends could pull it together to be bridesmaids and I had to ask my sister-in-law who I hardly knew. We had twice as much food, drinks and tent as we needed.

We had a wonderful fire out behind the barn and we kept it going 2 nights. The bounce house was amazing and worth every penny. It was like a big box that you put kids in. They were literally hanging from the sides. I hope someone got a picture of that. Aidan was scared of it and would only go into it the night before the party with Steve for a few minutes. He's scared of a lot of things lately - or else he is just more articulate and couldn't tell me that things were scary before. The pinata was great fun although Aidan startd crying at first - I think that mostly it was over-stimulation. I held him and explained that the toys were going to come out of it when it broke and he got a huge smile on his face and gave it a couple of whacks.

Steve's drumming friends mostly all came and that was just amazing. I was really worried about the noise reverberating down the hill and scaring the livestock and such, but it wasn't that loud and I don't think it bothered anyone. It sounded wonderful and they are talking about coming up again and having a gathering of just the drummers.

We have an accepted offer on this house we want as of Saturday. I'll post a picture soon. I can't believe it is finally happening. As soon as I'm done here I'll be spending the rest of the day in mortgage and real estate land. It's exhausting and already I'll be really glad when its over.

Oh Christy, I'm so sorry we couldn't make it! I hope you got my e-mail saying that we wouldn't be able to come. It sounds like you all had a great time though! And congratulations on the house! That's fantastic!

I told you the piniata was evil. It's violent and you had to rationalize the moment to him. Creepy. If you throw a party for your birthday next year, I'll come. What else is aidan scared of? Just curious.

I guess that makes sense. You know what they say about carousels, they lead to carnival rides and fun houses.so he's better off.

I am glad to hear that the drum circle turned out great - but you did not mention Aidan and his birthday present opening. Those that did not come just missed out on a great adventure and time - maybe next year all the family can gather at the new residence and have a family reunion for Aidan's birthday! I have a feeling I will be spending a great deal of time in NYC during the next two years! See you soon, Love, MomTyson, get busy writing!! ha!!Love YA

yes mam, your advice to me was invoked several times by my teacher in marketing class tonight. I told them a while ago about how when I asked you for financial advice regarding school you simply said to keep my mouth shut and listen to what these people had to say, that that's why I was there for. He simply made a sign that said MOM!!! on it and would hold it up to shut me up. Kinda funny.
